Still Oblivious

Several new games have come out recently, and I've been slowly getting to them. (See previous post.) However, I keep finding myself back into Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

I've reached Level 6, and my character is starting to be quite the badass. He's deadly with both the bow and with a sword. I'm now a member of the Blades -- the secret group that protects the Emperor. Think Secret Service. Or, in more traditional terms, Maji. (The bodyguards of the Egyptian pharaohs.)

Anyway, I'm not directly assigned to the Emperor himself. Actually, the Emperor was killed at the beginning of the game, and his son hasn't yet been crowned. He's in hiding in the secret Blades hideout, high in the mountains. Before he can become Emperor, the Amulet of Kings must be found, and that is the task laid out before me. I'm currently en route to the secret shrine of this evil cult that stole the amulet. Sadly, these cursed portals to Oblivion are opening up every where I go, so of course I have to jump into them and shut them. (Plus, there's oodles of loot to be looted in there!)

While I was in the Imperial City researching the cult, I found this cool arena. It looked like fun, so I joined as a combatant. You fight in this arena, gladiator style, to the death. They give you gold for each win, and your rank increases. (I'm currently a Gladiator, and I'm not going to stop until I'm the Blademaster.) Mindless fighting. Lovely!
